Sweetest strokes in the game
I was innocently scrolling through Twitter when I saw a tweet sent out asking people to describe Ken Griffey Jr’s swing in one word. Beneath the caption played a loop of one of the sweetest swings ever to grace the game of baseball. He made it look so easy. It got me thinking…which players have the sweetest strokes in cornhole? Who makes it look effortless? Let’s take a look!
Jimmy Youmans
This tall, lean glass of water steps his way into my top spot. Long smooth releases with arguably the best follow through….it looks effortless. To pair with the smooth stroke he throws one of the flattest and tightest spinning bags I have ever seen. Dude is pretty decent at Cornhole.
2. Kyle Malone
I have always loved the way Malone throws a bag. A non-stepper, Malone has a great follow through, spins a tight bag and has great overall mechanics. Sound mechanics allow him to manipulate the bag among the best in the game.
3. Derrick King
When I watch him throw, it really doesn’t shock me he is currently teaching lessons across the country. Mechanically, King is very sound and has a highly repeatable short backswing with high revolution release. It just looks good coming out of his hand every single time.
4. Kaylee Hunter
Hunter might throw the prettiest looking bag in the game. Her throw is fluid and seemingly effortless. When she is locked in, her throw is what we all wished our throws looked like.
5. Brevon Valdivia
I have been a fan of his over the last two seasons. Now, admittedly, Brevon has an advantage over most….he is a lefty….and everything lefty’s do in sports just looks better. His long release and follow through has allowed him to throw a variety of bag speeds at the highest level
Honorable Mention:
-Jamie Graham (non-stepping version)
-Tanner Halbert
-Josh Groce
