Pairing Bags and Beers!
I know every cornhole enthusiast out there loves the enjoyment of seeing a package sitting on the porch when you get home from work, with a set of bags you ordered anywhere from 2 weeks ago to 9 months ago. You take them out, love them, caress them, maybe lather them in hair conditioner. Next you set up a photo shoot for your new babies, send pictures to all your cornhole friends and obviously showoff your mail day on facebook! You go out, set up the boards, throw them, and then you are faced with a huge dilemma…. what beer should I be drinking with these bags? Don't worry, we are here to help!
Reynolds bags: these are going to pair well with a good IPA, maybe a Hop Peak from Brekenridge, a Field drinker from Brooklyn or whatever one you love. This is because you know what you like, you stick with what is tried and true, you don't need to spend too much on the beer but you would because you pay for what you like. The beers match the bags perfectly. Notice the Asp brothers love a good IPA and a good Pro Advantage bag.
Allcornhole, game changers or all slides: these are going to go perfect with your standard Bud Light or Budweiser, the old school american brew. Bud was good enough for your daddy and your grand daddy… so are those Game Changers. When you see a 50 year old teamed up with his 70 year old dad, pounding bud lights, throwing those GC's, bow out and back away slowly before they take you for all the money in your pockets.
Ultra bags: these go well with a good porter! You need the porter to be served at the correct 50-55 degrees, so you can taste the rich chocolate or coffee flavors. If it's not the right temperature you might as well just get rid of it, like you do the second your new vipers get their first pull from throwing on subpar boards!
Cornhole Scenario bag: Just skip beer and go straight to the oldest most delicious bourbon you can find! One of two things has just happened, you got your bags that you ordered 9 month ago and it is time to celebrate….. or you just paid $600 for frictions and you have the money to blow on random crap!
Lucky bags: grab yourself a nice Pabst Blue Ribbon and make sure you tell everyone about how you drank PBR because it was cheap back in the day and you like it because of that, not because it's the new cool guy hipster beer!
Fire Cornhole bags: these are perfect with a cold amazing miller lite! You thought ahead about what beer tastes good and the fact that you can get twelve 16oz cans, for cheaper than a 12 pack of 12 ouncers. Not only is it flavorful, but highly economical, just like those Assaults that are going to play awesome and make you start pushing bags like Erick Davis! Keystone is also acceptable, getting 15 beers for the price of 12 is great! Lets face it, as much as you don't want to admit it in front of your friends, you like it.
724 Bagger Co bags: most people are going to pair these with some expensive wine. Because let's face it, you are just going to store the wine next to the bags for years and hope the wine goes up in value next to the bags. To those of you who actually throw them, you drink whatever makes you damn well happy because you are going to appreciate the fact that you got to throw them, and probably love them!
Local bags: these go well with a good lager, i'm not talking about big brewery watery lager, i'm talking about your local microbrew full flavor lager, the real stuff. Because you like that good flavor how it originally was! You like classic beer done right along with your classic bags done right!
Kontraband bags: these go well with lemonade, because if you own these you and your squad are not old enough to drink legally! If you happen to be old enough, have a Mike's hard lemonade and release your inner child!
Bag Daddy Cornhole Bags: grab yourself a nice amber beer! You go out on a limb and pick up these bags that you didn't know much about and you are pleasantly surprised at how damn good they are! That's why they go so well with an amber, because you go out of your comfort zone and try one, then you are 10 beers deep cause they are so good. It's a great beer to CROSSOVER too.
BG Cornhole bags: when these show up, go out and get yourself a whole case of Corona, or Pacifico, because it's time to party! You and your bags are ready to rage, it's fiesta time! You are going to drop beers so fast, because let's face it, when it's hot out and you are having a good time, these go down faster than water. You are going to get so tanked that these bags are going to get thrown into the front of the board so many times that people will start calling you Corbin and you will break the bags naturally the first night! The next day you will order another set, because now you can order them 5 days a week, and you want to relive the experience again!
Hopefully you are having as much fun throwing bags and drinking beer as I had writing this while drinking beer and thinking about how much I want to be throwing bags!
