New Investors Fuel Continued Growth for the ACL
The American Cornhole League continues to grow, seemingly, daily. As first reported by CNBC, the ACL has secured two outside investors to aide in the continued overall growth of the game both nationally and internationally. Former Georgetown Basketball coach, John Thompson III and Asland Capital Partners CEO, James Simmons III are the first, of what I assume will be more, to invest in this rapidly growing game.
Thompson recognizes the overall potential growth of the game as he told CNBC, “You kind of chuckle when you think about it,” Thompson said of investing in cornhole. “But as you dive in and do the research, cornhole is one of the fastest-growing sports in the world.” When asked about potential risks, Thompson replied to CNBC reporter, “Is it a risk? Absolutely,” said Thompson. “But all investments are a risk. I feel strongly about the management team that we’re putting together and the team already in place”
While the specific terms of the deal have yet to be disclosed publicly, the American Cornhole League is excited about this partnership. Trey Ryder, ACL’s Chief Marketing Officer, states, “We are really excited for this new partnership with our league. “ He adds, “John and Jim bring amazing resources and knowledge to the table as we continue looking forward to our next stage of growth. A monumental step for our sport.”
These are exciting times to be a fan of cornhole. Continued interest from outside investors will fuel the expansion of our game and will only help to further legitimize the league as a whole. I have a strong suspicion this is just the first of several investors to jump on the wagon.…
