Most Unique Throws in Cornhole
There are a million reasons to love the game of Cornhole. It can be played indoors or outdoors. You can enjoy a beverage while playing (hydration is important people). The fashion sense of cornhole players is second to none. And most of the participants are in peak athletic form….
One of the other reasons I find the game so fascinating: there is no one way to throw a bag….and still be really good. Some individuals throw a bag and it just looks “pretty”. A throw people would try to replicate. Others…well…we have no clue how the hell they can throw like they do…but they make it work!
Last article we broke down some of the smoothest throws in the game…this time, let’s break down some of the most unique throws in the game (in no particular order)!!
Trey Hunt
With a nickname like “The Sniper” you know the dude is accurate (this clip is absolutely ridiculous). When I first watched Hunt throw, I couldn’t figure out how he generated force. He has barely any back-swing and seemingly pushes the bag rather than throwing it. And after his release it seems like he is off balance every time. Oh…and if you watch closely….does he seriously only have one eye open? I can barely hit the board 4 times with both eyes open. So……Short to no back swing with a push style release, with a single leg finish…all with one eye open?? Did I mention he is top 20 in combined PPR??? He most certainly earns a spot on this list
2. Chad Braun
Chad “the Athlete” Braun not only earned this nickname because of his ability to fill out sleeveless shirts like He-Man, but also for his unique..athletic?..throw style. He doesn’t step, but rocks and uses this momentum to propel the bag toward the board and finishes it off with a leg kick cheerleaders would be jealous of!
3. Dayton Webber
Unique, impressive, mind blowing. How ever you want to phrase it, Dayton’s throw is one of a kind. Using both arms, Dayton has perfected a full body lunge-release type toss that has helped him earn the status of Cornhole Professional.
4. Sean Short
One phrase comes to mind when describing this former ACL pro’s throw style: “Granny Style”. Developing this toss after an injury early in his Career, Short perfected this between the legs, hunched over style toss. This style was highlighted on ESPN, when he and then partner, Jay Dotson, won a National Doubles event
5. Tom Gustafson
-A Right handed thrower who steps with his left foot….how is this unique?? First, watch how he holds the bag…he practically lays the bag flat in his hand. He cradles that shit like he is holding a new born. The most unique part though?? His release! His bag actually spins counter clockwise. It’s crazy to see in person and I still just can’t wrap my head around it
If you put bags in the hole….it just doesn’t matter how it looks!! Who are some of your favorite unique throwers???
As always, I hope you throw it straight and it’s nothing but four baggers from here on out! Later
-Sean
